Funding for Divisions & Departments

The Earth Institute NSF ADVANCE program provides resources for divisions, departments, and research centers to increase the representation of women scientists. The objective of the awards is to

1) increase the number of women recruited, retained, and advanced, and 2) improve the climate for women scientists within divisions, departments, and centers.

Divisions, departments, and centers may request these funds for following purposes:

• To invite women scholars to campus to give scientific presentations;
• To increase the budget of any search effort for which enhanced funds would further the recruitment of excellent women candidates;
• To improve the climate for women scientists through mentoring and professional networking activities. 

This list is merely suggestive.  Proposed activities should demonstrate a commitment to improving gender equity and have widespread support from the members of the division, department, or center.
