This competitive program enables junior and mid-career women scientists and engineers to demonstrate scientific leadership by convening research workshops in collaboration with senior scientists at Columbia or elsewhere. The workshops are intended to provide the organizers with an opportunity to advance new areas of scientific research, to be recognized by influential colleagues as scientific leaders, and to gain experience chairing a workshop.
ADVANCE has selected three recipients for the 2009 Research Workshop Awards. The recipients are: Dr. Veronica Lance (LDEO) for the In situ CO2 Addition Feasibility Workshop (23-24 March, 2009), Dr. Allegra LeGrande (GISS) for her Workshop on Polar Amplification of Greenhouse Climates (Fall 2009), and Dr. Martha Kim (Computer Science) for her Computer Architecture Lecture Series at Columbia University (Fall 2009 – Spring 2010).
The application for the 2009 Research Workshop Award ended on January 31, 2009.
